Free Rider Movie Poster
This is a poster for one of my all-time favorite films. All photos are by Jérôme Tanon and are used with permission.
Why Free Rider?
I love the storytelling in this film, and I wanted this poster to tell a story of its own. The best way to do this was to emphasize the imagery and show the scale and texture of the mountain.
I wanted to highlight some of the composition decisions I made, mostly intuitively. The video below shows the whole design process.
The overall visual direction was around highlighting lines, just like the movie does.
I don't put much stock in the golden ratio, but I found it funny that everything unintentionally lined up on that grid.
